Multiple Design Positions

Verbal Eyes provides instructional design, writing, graphic design, and consulting services.


We prioritize projects that aim to improve the lives of people who face social, economic, and medical challenges. Most of our clients are based in government, university, or non-profit organizations.


We are currently recruiting outstanding versatile designers to join our small but rapidly growing  business. Positions are a mix of hybrid and fully remote.



Primary Responsibilities


  • Conceptualize and design visually engaging graphics, animations, illustrations, diagrams, and infographics that align with client instructional goals and branding


  • Collaborate with instructional designers and subject matter experts to understand learning objectives and content requirements


  • Create high-quality, user-friendly visual elements for e-learning modules, presentations, videos, and websites


  • Provide content layout for print manuals and reports


  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to improve the visual appeal and effectiveness of learning materials


  • Stay updated with design trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance the quality of design work



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field OR one year professional experience as a Graphic Designer


  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and ability to rapidly learn other design tools


  • Strong portfolio showcasing versatility in style and media


  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team


  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency


  • Ability to create project timelines, work independently, and meet deadlines



Desirable Qualifications



These are not required qualifications, but if you've got them, flaunt them!


  • Proficiency in online course development software, such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate


  • Proficiency in audio-visual editing


  • Web maintenance or development with HTML, CSS, Java


  • Knowledge of child development, adverse childhood experiences, trauma-informed care, public health, mental health, and inclusion/accessibility principles


  • Excellent writing skills


  • Knowledge of research methods, statistics, and data visualization


  • Spanish fluency



About the Jobs


We are hiring both FTE and 1099 positions. Positions begin early February. Negotiable salary based on proven experience. Prefer candidates who can attend meetings in Little Rock, AR, but will consider fully remote based on proven experience.


Candidates must already be legally eligible to work in the U.S.


Employees receive 3 weeks of paid time off in the first year. Health insurance is not yet available through the business, but we will contribute to your marketplace plan.

Contract Website Developer

Verbal Eyes provides instructional design, writing, graphic design, and consulting services.


We prioritize projects that aim to improve the lives of people who face social, economic, and medical challenges. Most of our clients are based in government, university, or non-profit organizations.


We are currently seeking a Website Developer to work with us on a contract basis as client needs arise. Projects range from troubleshooting small code issues on existing small business sites to developing brand new CMSs for larger institutions. As a 1099 contractor, you'll enjoy the flexibility to manage your own schedule while collaborating with a supportive and talented team.



Primary Responsibilities


  • Discover client needs, explain options, and provide reliable estimates for development cost and timeframe


  • Collaborate with Verbal Eyes designers and writers to design mockups and wireframes that you translate into fully functional websites


  • Develop and implement interactive features and functionality to enhance user engagement


  • Ensure websites are optimized for various devices and browsers for seamless user experience


  • Troubleshoot and debug sites to ensure the performance, security, and reliability


  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies



Qualifications


  • Proven experience as a Website Developer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your skills and expertise


  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design principles


  • Experience with content management systems (primarily WordPress) and web development frameworks


  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and WCAG standards


  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail


  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment


  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and adaptable to changing project requirements
